The National Day Parade, commencing in the National Day Festival, was this year more spectacular then ever before. Hundreds of floats, representing every aspect of Veracois life, had spent weeks being prepared. Luckily, God allowed the weather to hold out, resulting in one of the hottest National Day Parades on record. After the last float had reached the stage in Verac Park, the National Day Festival kicked off in the Royal Festival Hall. Televised in central parks across the nation, all Verac was able to participate in a wonderful celebration of our history and culture, and to celebrate National Day together.

The King’s Birthday commenced as usual with well-attended proclamations being given at every paroisse court in Verac. The royal procession set off from Saint Giles palace on the stroke of ten o’clock, and wound its way through the city, before returning to St Giles Cathedral for a celebration morning prayer at 11:30. Following the service, the royal family retired to the balcony of Saint Giles Palace from where they, and the thousands waiting in Verac Park, observed a magnificent flyover by the Royal Veracois Air Force.

His Majesty’s Government will be making a series of announcements in the coming week, in relation to the normalisation of our geographic position.

The King has also been pleased to appoint Scott Cairney, Viscount Marlow, as Lord President of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council. Viscount Marlow will commence his duties shortly.

The King has made the Viceroy & Lord-Lieutenant of the Torrington Islands Order 2009, which has the effect of appointing the Governor to the office of Viceroy & Lord-Lieutenant of the Torrington Islands.
